Yugoslavia – lecture by Dr Maciej Czerwiński, part of the series 1918. The culture of the New Europe.

A series of lectures that usher the audience to the history and culture of the countries in Central Europe in the period between the two World Wars. Although the Treaty of Versailles brought the much-coveted peace for Europe and freedom for a number of nations, many felt led down by its provisions. The lectures will outline the political and
social situation in particular countries of the region after the Great War, and demonstrate the influence of their realities on culture and art.

The lectures accompany the exhibition The Architecture of Independence in Central Europe, due to open at the ICC Gallery on 9 November.
