The first discussion of the Central European Book Club

On 18th October the first discussion of the Central European Book Club: “War is not only a man's business” took place.

Literature questions the stereotype of war as a domain of male activity in many ways. We discussed two of them. The award-winning novel “Córeczka” by the Ukrainian writer Tamara Duda, and the iconographic-text project “Co robi łączniczka?”, a collaboration between Darek Foks and Zbigniew Libera.

The reading of Foks and Libera's project coincided with the book launch: the second edition of the book will be in official distribution starting late October. Registration at the following e-mail address: j.burnatowski@mck.krakow.pl enabled the participants to obtain both texts in a digital version.

At a new series of meetings, the Central European Book Club organised by the International Cultural Centre in Krakow, we would like to invite participants to talk about Central Europe, its ideas, identity, as well as its pressing problems.

This year we will meet three times: in October, November, and December. The club is open, anyone can join, regardless of age, profession or reading preferences. In short, we want to create a space for free reflection and conversation about books we will read together.
