National Independence Day

104 years ago, after 123 years Poland regained independence. After the period of Partitions it became again a free and independent country.

Although the Polish lands during the 1st World War were to be only a battlefield, a "theater of war" for the involved powers, the costs of being his "theater" were enormous. 500.000 Polish soldiers lost their lives, and 400.000 civilians, while 90% of the country area became a battlefield.
