A Flight of the Bumblebee. Ukraine from the Independance to the Majdan

The former British ambassador in Kiev once compared Ukraine to a bumblebee that can fly, though according to all rights of aerodynamics, it shouldn’t be able to. Similarly, Ukraine, against all predictions, succeeded in gaining independence in 1991 and from then on the country has been continuously developing. Today, the question of the country’s future is again one of the topics most often discussed by politicians and journalists.

Professor Jarosław Hrytsak from Lviv University, the awardee of the Thesaurus Poloniae scholarship, will tell us about the stormy history of Ukraine from the independence to Maidan.
