City walk: “Allegories hidden in modernist architecture”

During the walk the participants learned about the most typical characteristics of modernist architecture. They discovered why it had become so popular to put an emblem at the entrance, and what allegories were hidden in those symbolic representations.

In the interwar period the traditional tenement houses were replaced byt the so called big-city houses of a typical, modernist shape. The architecture in Krakow developed in a very dynamic way, and the Krowodrza district became representative for the city.
