Lecture by Dr. Jakub Forst-Battaglia
During the period of the Partitions, Poles played an important role in Austria, and particularly in Vienna, both in its social life, and as an important part of the Habsburg court. The city of Vienna was an important academic and artistic centre, which made a great impact on the intellectual life of Galicia, since Poles were numerous among the German-speaking circles of the Austrian intelligentsia. During his lecture, Dr. Jakub Fort-Battaglia will focus on the role that Poles played in the capital of the Habsburg Monarchy from the period of the Partitions up to the outbreak of the First World War.
