Rasa Rimickaitė was awarded the honorary “Warsaw Ghetto Uprising” medal

The distinction was granted on April 18th by the Association of Jewish Fighters and Those Damaged in World War II in Poland and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland. Rasa Rimickaitė is the cultural attache at the Republic of Lithuania Embassy in Poland and the president of the Programme Council of the ICC. She was awarded for her contribution to human dignity protection and fighting xenophobia, nationalism, and antisemitism.

 

Rasa Rimickaitė is a long-time collaborator with the International Culture Centre. She was engaged i.a. in the preparation of the exhibition “Lithuania. Two centuries of photography” and its associated programme.

 

Among the awarded was also Prof. Małgorzata Olimanowska-Kiljańczyk who, in 2013, as the Secretary of State in the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, inaugurated the 8th edition of the Academy of Heritage. Professor is one of the author of “Form Follows Freedom” publication, issued by the ICC in 2015, and essays for the HERITO quarterly.

 

The distinctions were also granted to Halina Birenbaum, Waldemar Dąbrowski, the Cukerman Gate Foundation, the Forgotten Foundation, Christoph Heubner, Dariusz Popiel, Tomasz Sekielski, and Izabela Sekulska.

 

The award ceremony took place in POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
