The lecture will referred to the exhibition “Józef Czapski. Pictures and Drawings from Private Collections”, showcased at the ICC from April 4 to May 13, 1996. It addressed the work of members of the Paris Committee, their connections with French art, and in particular their fascination with the painting of such artists as Pierre Bonnard and Paul Cézanne.

“Among the recent art exhibitions in Warsaw [...], the exhibition of the members of the Paris Committee, young painters who left the Krakow Academy for Paris, aroused special interest” – with these words Tytus Czyżewski commented on the exhibition held in December 1931 at the Polish Art Club “Polonia”. Artists praised by Czyżewski were members of the Paris Committee, also known as “Colourists”, a group of young artists, mainly painters, associated with the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts (including Jan Cybis, Józef Czapski, Hanna Rudzka-Cybisowa, Artur Nacht-Samborski), who in 1924, still students at the time, went to Paris to immerse themselves in the local artistic milieu and look for new directions for their art.

The lecture took place online via Zoom. Admission was free. To receive a link to participate, the participants were asked to send an application to the following e-mail address: warsztaty@mck.krakow.pl.
