"Decades with art. The Sound of Color "

The turn of the 19th and 20th centuries became an important moment in the history of art of blurring genre boundaries and the interpenetration of various artistic phenomena. In addition to linking visual arts and literature, the links with music turned out to be equally important for this period, a phenomenon that left a clear mark on abstract art at the beginning of the 20th century.

Another lecture in the series "Decades with Art" referred to the exhibition "M. K. Čiurlionis. A Lithuanian Tale ”presented at the ICC Gallery at the turn of 2015/2016 and was devoted to the musical themes in the paintings of artists such as Franz Mark, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee or just Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis.

Leading:
Małgorzata Jędrzejczyk - art historian, curator. She studied art history at the Jagiellonian University, Universität Wien and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. A graduate of the interdisciplinary study program Environment - Technologies - Society (Jagiellonian University). Author of scientific articles on art and architecture of the 20th century and publications in exhibition catalogs and magazines. Co-editor of the anthology of texts image / body and the publication Komponowaniespace. Avant-garde sculptures. Co-author and curator of the artistic and scientific program Exercising Modernity (Pilecki-Institut Berlin). As part of her doctoral dissertation prepared at the Institute of Art History of the Jagiellonian University, she conducts research on the concept of space in the work of Katarzyna Kobro.

The series of lectures "Decades with Art" is an original selection of topics that, updated, expanded and supplemented with a discussion of one - each time another - of the past exhibitions will allow you to return to the rich and varied activities of the International Cultural Center in recent years.
