The exhibition “Lithuania. Two Centuries of Photography” has already been discussed by art historians, photographers, and a journalist. Now is the time for the perspective of a novelist and anthropologist: what stories are hiding in the photos of Antanas Sutkus, Indrė Šerpytytė, or Romualdas Rakauskas?

Olga Drenda is announcing the event in the following way: “Since I saw Romuldas Rakauskas’ photo of a boy hugging a rabbit years ago, I’m a devoted lover of Lithuanian photography. I always liked its silence, modesty, discretion, some kind of zoning out – in the most positive kind – when something is so captivating that we forget about the world around us. I’m glad that we will have the opportunity to zone out together in Krakow, looking at the photos from the country, where I once saw probably the most beautiful light in the world.”

Olga Drenda – novelist, cultural anthropologist, laureate of the Gdynia Literary Award in the essay category for “Wyroby. Pomysłowość wokół nas.” Host of web profile “Duchologia” for ten years, where she describes the everyday life of the transformation period. Columnist in the “Tygodnik Powszechny”.
