Lecture: Aesthetics as politics. Posters as a tool of protest, solidarity and resistance

23 February 2026, 12.00

Can an image protest? Can typography become a form of protest and colour a political manifesto? Join us for a lecture from the Decades with Art series, which will be devoted to posters.

During the lecture, Dr Małgorzata Jędrzejczyk will talk about the poster as one of the most direct and widespread tools of visual communication, which for over a century has accompanied social movements, strikes and grassroots civic initiatives.

The meeting will recall the exhibition “Posters Against War” (25 August – 14 September 2023). Dr Małgorzata Jędrzejczyk will discuss historical examples of posters from the early 20th century, works by artists associated with Solidarity, as well as contemporary posters that are part of the current social debate.
