Join us for a walk exploring Kraków’s most beautiful tenement houses from the interwar period. Together, we’ll discover which features are the most interesting and what surprises they hold. We’ll also reflect on what was characteristic of the architecture of that time and what details set it apart.
Many of Kraków’s interwar-era buildings are exceptional not only because of their impressively crafted façades, modern materials, interesting building forms and well-thought-out urban planning. Equally important are the details hidden within the interiors of these tenement houses: stairwells, floors, balustrades, glazing and other fixtures.
During this walk, part of the “Mature for Art” series, we will visit selected Kraków tenement houses from the interwar period. We will examine their architecture and beautiful details. This will be an opportunity to discover a new side to Kraków’s modernism – architecture designed with everyday life in mind, combining beauty, functionality and modern solutions.

The Mature Art sessions, led by art historian and long-standing ICC collaborator, Dr Małgorzata Jędrzejczyk, are aimed at an adult audience, with a particular focus on mature participants. The lectures analyse issues related to art history and culture in relation to themes that have also been presented in exhibitions at the ICC. This is an excellent opportunity for discussion and a deeper understanding of the works and their context.
Host:
Dr. Małgorzata Jędrzejczyk – art historian, curator. Studied art history at Jagiellonian University, Universität Wien and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Graduate of the interdisciplinary study program Environment-Technology-Society (UJ).
