Visit by Secretary of State Bożena Żelazowska to the International Cultural Centre

On 28 October, Bożena Żelazowska, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and Chief Conservator of Monuments, visited the International Cultural Centre in Kraków. Her visit provided an opportunity to present the changes relating to the modernisation of our premises and programme as part of the FEnIKS project.

Bożena Żelazowska met with the director of the ICC, Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik, the programme director of the ICC, Marzena Daszewska, and the director for organisational affair, Piotr Bąk, to discuss the modernisation of our institution as part of the FEnIKS programme. The ministry representative had the opportunity to see the progress of the work at our premises and learn about our action plan for the coming months. She was accompanied by Dr Aleksander Broda, an art historian, Chair of the Main Conservation Commission, and, from 1999 to 2001, Chief Conservator of Historic Monuments.

We showed our guest, amongst other things, the ground floor of the ICC building, where work is currently underway in the premises that will in future house a bookshop, a café and an educational hall. Bożena Żelazowska also viewed our institution’s lobby, which is currently being refurbished, and the façade, which has already been partially renovated. She discussed plans for the coming year with the ICC management, including the programme of events, upcoming exhibitions and the opening of the modernised headquarters in 2027.

The ICC: modern and open to all

The modernisation of the Ravens House is much more than just the renovation of a listed building. The primary aim of the project is to create an open and welcoming space that will encourage people to meet, expand their knowledge and actively participate in cultural life. The modernisation will also cover the technical infrastructure of the ICC Gallery and conference rooms. Thanks to the FEnIKS programme, we will purchase modern multimedia equipment and implement solutions tailored to the needs of people with special needs. The building will feature, amongst other things, new lifts and induction loops, as well as clear signage to help visually impaired people find their way around. We will also introduce solutions to improve digital and communication accessibility, so that the widest possible audience can take full advantage of what we have to offer.

The project “Modernisation and adaptation of the ground floor of the Ravens House building and renovation of the technical infrastructure at the ICC headquarters in Kraków” is co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS) programme.

Total project value: 13,541,096.08 PLN
