As part of the FEnIKS program, experts from the Olomouc Museum of Art once again shared their knowledge and experience with the ICC team. The study trip, during which a seminar was organized for our delegation, provided an opportunity to discuss best practices and innovative solutions in developing cultural offerings for various audiences, communication strategies and curatorial work.
The Olomouc Museum of Art on Best Practices and Innovations
During the two-day seminar, staff members from the Olomouc Museum of Art presented the most interesting aspects of their work and innovative approaches to developing the museum’s programming to the ICC team. Štěpánka Bieleszová, curator of the MUO’s photography collection, spoke during the event about, among other things, the various stages of preparing an exhibition – from the initial concept to the final presentation of both temporary and permanent exhibitions. Hana Lamatová, a curator and education specialist, explained, among other things, the process of creating interactive architectural models of St. Wenceslas Cathedral. She also presented the results of a survey on visitor evaluations of exhibitions, demonstrated the potential of new technologies in exhibition storytelling, and showcased a tool for creating online exhibitions.
Marek Šobáň, director of the Education Department, and Denisa Tessenyi, also from the Education Department, spoke about the “Museum for All Generations” program and discussed solutions tailored to various audience groups. They also discussed issues related to the accessibility of their museum’s offerings. Vlastimil Sedláček, director of the Exhibition Department, presented the MUO’s three exhibition spaces and gave the ICC team an in-depth look at the work involved in preparing exhibitions there – from technical details to the handling of works of art. Martin Šinkovský, a PR specialist, provided a detailed overview of the exhibition communication process, outlining the various stages of developing a communication strategy, its implementation, documentation and both online and offline activities.
The FEnIKS Project at the ICC and Work on the New Program
The second day of the seminar was devoted to a presentation by the ICC. Our team discussed the modernization work being carried out at the institution as part of the FEnIKS program, which aims to renovate and modernize our headquarters. The study visit to Olomouc provided an opportunity to learn about proven solutions used by the Czech museum, as well as to draw inspiration from its activities, which will help us develop new concepts and ideas for the ICC’s programs.
The FEnIKS project aims not only to modernize the infrastructure but also to enhance staff competencies and develop a program that meets the contemporary needs of its audience. The insights gained during the visit to the MUO will be utilized in further efforts to create a modern, accessible, and open space and program at the International Cultural Centre in Kraków. The Olomouc Art Museum shares its knowledge and modern solutions with our team as an international partner institution in the FEnIKS program. As part of this cooperation, we have already held, among other things, expert lectures for our staff, as well as previous study visits to Olomouc. We have also hosted representatives from the MUO at the ICC.
