The Minister met with the Director of the ICC, Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik, the Programme director of the ICC, Marzena Daszewska, and the Director for Organisational Affair, Piotr Bąk. Minister Żelazowska inspected the progress of work on the Ravens House and was briefed on the action plan for the coming months. She was accompanied by Dr Aleksander Broda, an art historian, Chair of the Main Conservation Commission, and, from 1999 to 2001, Chief Conservator of Monuments, as well as one of the initiators of the postgraduate programme at the Heritage Academy.
Our guests had the opportunity to see, amongst other things, the ground floor of the ICC building, which is currently being refurbished and will in future house a bookshop, a bistro and an educational hall. The Minister spoke with the ICC management about the opening of the modernised premises in 2027 and the European Cultural Heritage Summit, as well as plans for the coming years.
The ICC: modern and open to all
The modernisation of the Ravens House is much more than just the renovation of a historic building. The primary aim of the project is to create an additional open and welcoming space that will encourage people to meet, expand their knowledge and actively participate in cultural life. The modernisation will also cover the technical infrastructure of the ICC Gallery and conference rooms. Thanks to the FEnIKS project, modern multimedia equipment will be purchased and solutions will be implemented to improve the accessibility of the ICC. Among other things, the lifts in the building will be replaced, additional induction loops will be installed, and clear signage will make it easier for people with visual impairments to find their way around. These new measures will improve digital and communication accessibility, enabling the widest possible audience to make full use of our services.
The project “Modernisation and adaptation of the ground floor of the Ravens House and renovation of the technical infrastructure at the ICC headquarters in Kraków” is co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS) programme.
