Academic Reflection on the Past and the Changing World
The conference is the central event of the celebrations marking the 175th anniversary of the TBSP UJ, highlighting the rich history and uninterrupted activity of the oldest student organization operating at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University since 1851. The event program will include presentations on, among other topics, the history of law and the evolution of political institutions, contemporary politics of memory, forms of commemorating events and figures significant to legal culture, as well as issues related to memory conflicts in international relations.
This international conference will provide an opportunity for scholarly reflection on the past and for joint consideration of how tradition and historical memory shape the contemporary understanding of law on the international stage, as well as the nature of the legal community’s responsibility toward a changing world.

175th Anniversary of the TBSP UJ
The TBSP UJ supports the research and teaching activities of student research clubs, fosters collaboration among students, doctoral candidates, and faculty members, and integrates the student research community. To mark the Society’s 175th anniversary, a series of events has been planned to commemorate its history, long-standing activities, and the organization’s contribution to the development of the social, cultural and intellectual life of the Polish legal community.
The Jubilee Year of the TBSP UJ is a special occasion to reflect on the achievements of past generations and on the values that have shaped the organization’s identity over the past 175 years. It is also an opportunity to honor those whose commitment, passion, and responsibility have contributed to the Society’s longevity and development. The anniversary celebrations will provide a space for members of the legal community and supporters of the organization to gather. In addition to the academic conference, the program includes an Oxford-style debate tournament titled “On Law,” an exhibition of rare books, and an Anniversary Gala.
