April 26, 2026, 12.30
Our educational series for children is moving to the Jagiellonian University Museum, Collegium Maius. To mark the occasion, we’ll start our family workshop by exploring the secrets of universities of old.
The International Cultural Centre in Kraków invites you to a family workshop titled “Secrets of Old Universities”. During the April MINI meetings with arts, we’ll take a journey through the old University. We’ll learn what lecture halls looked like 500 years ago, who could attend classes, and what rules were in place back then. We’ll also meet students who sometimes got into mischief and didn’t always follow the rules. Their stories will help us better understand the lives of students from centuries ago. We’ll also talk about the customs that prevailed among them—such as the ban on wearing red shoes—and how these rules were sometimes deliberately broken.
During the workshops, children and parents, with the support of our educators, will create their own artwork inspired by life at the University in the past. We will combine various techniques and materials to develop imagination and dexterity, and to spark a curiosity about the world.
We also invite families from Ukraine to join us—an educator who speaks Ukrainian will be present.
The classes have been temporarily moved from the ICC headquarters at the Main Market Square to the Jagiellonian University Museum due to the renovation of the building as part of the FEnIKS program—European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment 2021–2027.
