Reproductions of famous representations of the dance of death, opera drafts, and photographic documentation of the performances are preceded by essays: T. Chrzanowski's “The Theology of Horror”, M. Tomaszewski's “Listening to Penderecki”, and R. Chłopicka's “Theme of Death in Penderecki's Musical Theatre”. The publication is supplemented with a list of Penderecki's major works and selected literature.
