Lecture by Nida Gaidauskienė

Nida Gaidauskienė, M. K. Čiurlionis and Z. Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė: the anticipation of Modernism in Lithuanian culture through the experience of the phenomena of Young Poland.

The first part of the lecture will address cultural experience of Mikołaj Čiurlionis and his wife Zofia Kymantaitė – Čiurlionienė in Poland, where they both studied – him in Warsaw, her in Krakow. Up to this day, the theme of their presence in Poland has not been researched. Their inspirations from this period will be confronted with ideas that emerged in the later stages of their practice. The second part of the lecture will address the situation of Modernism on Vilnius.
