Is a Georgian Ukrainian something strange? Or a Korean? Katarzyna Kotyńska and Joanna Majewska talk about the multiculturalism of Ukrainian society, where national identity is a matter of choice, not ethnic origin.

The researchers talk about how Ukraine reconciles this enormous diversity and how a new sense of belonging is being formulated before our eyes - to the state, not to the nation. They also discuss the pre-war interactions with the "new others" who appeared in Ukraine several years ago, e.g. with African students in Lviv or with Turkish students in Kyiv.

The episode was recorded after the closing of the exhibition "Ukraine. A Different Angle on Neighbourhood ", as an extension of the podcast “To Ukraine in 20 minutes”. It is also a commentary on the current situation in war-torn Ukraine.
