Guided tours with educators around the exhibition "Social Modernism. Architecture in Central Europe during the Cold War” allow us to better understand the historical and social context of this period. Thanks to professional comments, participants can explore various aspects of social modernist architecture and its impact on the region's landscape.

From January 8 to 19, we invite you to thematic tours conducted by our experienced educators.

Participation in the guided tour is included in the price of the admission ticket to the exhibition and does not require prior reservation of seats.

Expert tours

Expert tours of the exhibition "Socmodernism. Architecture in Central Europe during the Cold War” provide a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge about the architecture of the second half of the 20th century. They provide the opportunity to deepen knowledge and learn details about one of the most characteristic trends in architecture of this period - social modernism.

The authors of the tours - specialists related to the topic - will share their own reflections and experience regarding social modernist architecture.

 

Guided tours are held in Polish.

 

Guided tours on request

We organize guided tours on request of the exhibition "Social Modernism. Architecture in Central Europe during the Cold War", which runs from October 3, 2024 to January 19, 2025.

To arrange a tour at a time convenient for you, please contact us by e-mail or telephone. When registering your willingness to participate, please provide the following information: preferred date and time, language of the service (Polish, English, Ukrainian) and number of participants. The maximum number of people participating in the tour is 25.

The cost of a guided tour on request is PLN 100 for the guide service. This amount should include the cost of entry tickets to the exhibition for all participants. The maximum number of people participating in the tour is 25.

Guided tours last approximately 60 minutes and are conducted by experienced MCK guides.



Educators:

 

Beata Bujak-Szwaczka - A committed guide around Krakow and branches of the Krakow City Museum, an educator at the MCK in Krakow. He has been active in the field of urban development and heritage for years. A graduate of the Academy of Physical Education in Krakow with a master's degree in tourism. She worked as a trainer and advisor. In the years 1996-1998, she coordinated the foreign cooperation of the Krakow Voivodeship in the Foreign Cooperation Office at the Voivodeship Office in Krakow. As part of her duties, she coordinated the implementation of the visit to Krakow, among others. Mrs. Hillary Clinton and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

Marcin Krotla- Art historian, museum and anti-discrimination educator. In addition to the MCK in Krakow, he cooperated with the Forum Dialogu foundation, MuFo in Krakow, MOCAK and the Wawel Royal Castle. What he values ​​most in his work as an educator is the opportunity to dialogue with the audience, build relationships and share his passions.

 

Joanna Majewska-Grabowska - He tells and translates professionally. She pursues her passion for storytelling as a lecturer at the Jagiellonian University and an educator at Krakow institutions: MCK, MOCAK and MuFo. He also conducts webinars and guest lectures on Ukrainian culture and identity. Co-author of the podcast "To Ukraine in 20 minutes", recorded at the request of the MCK. As a translator she cooperated with, among others: with "Herito", "Dwutygodnik", the Batory Foundation, the Reportage Institute, KBF, and Culture.pl magazine. An important place in the translator's achievements so far is occupied by: "Planet Wormwood" by Oksana Zabuzhko, "Why there are great women artists in Ukrainian art" and "Ukraine" and "Get Out of the Past" by Jarosław Hrycak.

Iwona Malota - She studied History and cultural studies - mediteraneistics at the Jagiellonian University. She continued her education at doctoral studies at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow (today the Pontifical University of John Paul II). She completed postgraduate studies in pedagogical preparation for teaching work. She is a licensed guide in Krakow, author of scenarios for museum lessons and walks around the city. She works as an educator, giving tours of the Wawel Royal Castle and other Krakow cultural institutions.

Victoria Markovska - A graduate of master's studies at the Pedagogical University, majoring in Historical Tourism and Cultural Heritage, educator at the MCK. He runs educational and art workshops for Ukrainian- and Polish-speaking children. Additionally, he conducts city walks and shows around exhibitions. Her interests mainly include Polish-Ukrainian relations and social media and their impact on tourism

 

Hanna Martynenko - A graduate of Intercultural Relations and Journalism and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Passionate about city games, quests, activation methods of sightseeing and book podcasts. Co-author of the monograph "Interpretation of heritage in a participatory approach: cultural activation of the Ukrainian refugee community in Krakow: activity scenarios", as part of which an inclusive city game "The Alphabet of Krakow" was created for the Ukrainian community in Krakow. She has been associated with MCK for almost a year and cooperates with the Jagiellonian University on grants and scientific projects.

 

Anna Sokulska - A long-time educator collaborating with, among others, with the National Museum in Krakow, the Ethnographic Museum, MuFo and the MCK. For these institutions, in addition to traditional tours and conducting museum lessons, he prepares and conducts workshops for children, as well as walks and special thematic tours. He also cooperates with groups with special needs, both children and adults. She is also a licensed city guide and a lover of Krakow. He cooperates with PTTK and writes texts for guides.

 

Beata Wolszczak - A graduate of the Pedagogical University of Krakow. Teacher of history and social studies. She was a guide and educator at the Warsaw Uprising Museum, then at the Polish History Museum. Author and co-author of educational materials for students and teachers. Historical interests: material culture, everyday life.
