The premiere of the Culture Report

Culture was frozen during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Spring lockdown. It resulted in the necessity to take special actions, it became necessary to have a dialogue between various circles, exchange of experiences and create a new framework for cooperation.

Among the expert alerts published from the beginning of the pandemic by the team of experts of the Open Eyes Economy HUB there were also those devoted to culture. In the Culture Report series, an extensive analysis of the situation in which the entire sector found itself was made, as well as a number of solutions and ideas for the protection of Polish culture and counteracting the deepening crisis.

The Culture Report prepared on their basis is a multifaceted compendium of knowledge about effective action in times of a pandemic, enriched with conclusions and forecasts about the future of the cultural sector in Poland. Its function is not only to draw attention and warn, but also to trigger deeper reflection and discussion on how not waste difficult experience and time, but make the best use of it.

The Open Eyes Economy movement is not only about economic concepts developed in academia. Its initiators have always emphasized that thanks to artists, complex scientific theories are able to resonate in society. Therefore, the presentation of the document was preceded by a short explication of the Kultura Futura project launched by the Juliusz Słowacki Theater in Krakow and AYA Found, showing how in practice interdisciplinary par excellence events intertwine and what the project initiators intend to result from

The premiere of the Kultura Report and the inauguration of the Kultura Futura project took place on October 22, at 11.00 in the Małopolska Garden of Arts at ul. Rajska 12.

The most important conclusions of the report was discussed by prof. Jerzy Hausner, Chairman of the OEES Program Council and will present the recommendations of the expert team. In the discussion Culture - a way to crises, a crisis - a way to culture? they confronted with the experiences of artists, organizers of cultural events and people managing Krakow's cultural institutions. It wias attended by Izabela Błaszczyk, Director of the Krakow Festival Office, Krzysztof Głuchowski, Director of the Juliusza Słowackiego in Kraków, Michał Komar, Vice-President of the ZAiKS Authors' Association, Robert Piaskowski, Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Kraków for Culture, prof. Jacek Purchla, founder and longtime director of the International Cultural Centre and Dr. Joanna Sanetra-Szeliga from the University of Economics in Krakow.

During the meeting in the Małopolska Garden of Arts, a special performance by Aleksander Janicki from the Isolation-Confrontation artistic action was also planned, as a symbolic introduction to the theses presented in the Culture Report. During the event, a film produced by the ZAiKS Authors' Association was also broadcasted, and ended with a performance by Antoni Ziut Gralak, trumpeter, with the band 100nka.



The above activities are an initiative of the Open Eyes Economy HUB and the Collegium of Economy and Public Administration of the University of Economics in Krakow.
