The International Culture Centre is working towards enhancing the professional competence of cultural sector staff. From 6 to 10 November, the ICC will conduct the training project The Academy of Heritage for Ukraine. Lecturers of the post-graduate studies – The Academy of Heritage – organised by the ICC since 2001, will share their knowledge of the care of cultural heritage.

For five days, staff of Ukrainian cultural institutions, selected by the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Informational Politics, will participate in a seminar at the ICC and attend numerous study visits in museums of Krakow. They will visit eg. MuFo, Wawel Royal Castle, the Archaeology Museum, and the Museum of Krakow. During the seminar i.a. Żanna Komar, PhD and Michał Wiśniewski, PhD will give lectures.

The lectures and study visits will touch upon the reconstruction of historical monuments, managing memorial sites, and setting up the standards for care for the sites from the UNESCO World Heritage List. The training will be based on verified and implemented by the ICC educational formats, especially the post-graduate studies at The Heritage Academy and the international summer educational programs V4 Heritage Academy.

The idea of the project came to life as an effect of the ICC dialogue with the representatives of the Ukrainian culture sector. The main spark came from the Ministry of Culture and Informational Politics of Ukraine. The first edition of the Academy has a pilot nature, and the experiences collected during it will help to design the correct study form, which could be replicated in the following years.

Participants work in such institutions as the Historical and Cultural Reservation “Ancient Zvenyhorod,” the National Historical and Architectural Reservation in Brzezany, the Sightseeing Museum in Zaliztsi, the Sightseeing Museum in Berezne, “Na Unterwaliu” Museum and Culture Centre, and the Historical and Cultural Reservation “Bilsk.”

Co-financed by a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Kultura Inspirująca 2023 programme. This project is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Informational Politics of Ukraine and the Historical and Cultural Reservation “Ancient Zvenyhorod”.
