Summer at the ICC. The workshop "Touch of Art. Allegories hidden in architecture“

Starting in August, as part of the ”Summer at the ICC“ we invite organized groups to a summer workshop accompanying the exhibition ”Touch of Art – Laboratory of Form" by Agnieszka Łakoma.

The classes will have a multisensory character. During a visit to the exhibition “Touch of Art – Laboratory of Form” workshop participants will explore art through both sight and touch. They will explore shapes, textures and structures. They will puzzle out various representations of animals and discover their symbolic meaning. Among them will be a Winged Messenger, a Trellising Songbird, a Lucky Earwig and a Voracious Creature. In the artistic part, we will invite you to use a variety of art materials and create your own works, inspired by the allegories you have learned, which will allow you to develop your imagination and creativity.

During the class, participants will learn what modernism is, what function the emblem had on the facades of townhouses, and how artists and craftsmen concealed symbolic meanings in architectural details. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to consider what allegory is and how to read it in architecture. The “Touch of Art – Laboratory of Form” exhibition will present relief prints inspired by the sculptural decorations and emblems of modernist townhouses in Krowodrza – a district that became a landmark of modern Kraków in the interwar period.

Workshops tailored for visually impaired people, but open to all groups interested in learning about art in an active and sensory way.

Practical information:

• Classes designed for participants aged 4–12 years old
• Duration: approx. 90 minutes
• Cost: PLN 5 per person (groups of up to 25 people)
• Classes are held Monday through Friday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm
