Study trip as part of the 20th Heritage Academy 2025/2026

From 3 to 6 July 2026, students of the Heritage Academy visited the most interesting historic sites and museums in the Rzeszów and Sandomierz areas as part of their fieldwork.

As part of the 20th edition of the Heritage Academy, participants took part in a study trip focusing on cultural heritage management. They had the opportunity to visit, amongst other places, the 19th-century Stadnicki Manor in Rożnów. In Łańcut, they visited the local castle with its impressive library and exhibition of Orthodox Christian art, as well as the synagogue – one of the most valuable surviving examples of Jewish architecture in Poland – and the Distillery Museum. 

Participants in the 20th Heritage Academy also visited the Ethnographic Park – Museum of Folk Culture in Kolbuszowa, where, in addition to the museum’s valuable collections, they had the chance to view the set design for the TV series “1670”. Field trips also took place in Szczepanów, Nowy Wiśnicz, Żołyń and Baranów Sandomierski. During these visits, the students learnt about the practical aspects of cultural heritage conservation and management. The trip was supervised by Prof. Piotr Krasny and Marek Świdrak, who once again coordinated the event.

The Heritage Academy is a postgraduate programme run by the International Cultural Centre and the Kraków University of Economics. It prepares graduates to work effectively in cultural institutions and to manage heritage resources – both tangible and intangible – wisely. The programme comprises practical sessions, seminars, lectures and fieldwork. They are led by qualified staff specialising in the creation and organisation of exhibitions, the management of large museums and collections, the conservation of works of art, and the protection of cultural heritage. Applications are now open for the 21st intake of the Heritage Academy postgraduate programme for the 2026/2027 academic year.
