Shine. St. Mary's Altar by Veit Stoss

St. Mary's Altar, created between 1477–1489 by Veit Stoss from Nuremberg, is one of the greatest monuments of the Middle Ages in this part of Europe. The current exhibition presents 27 photograms from Andrzej Nowakowski's album entitled Shine. St. Mary's Altar by Veit Stoss.
Stoss' masterpieces have been once again photographed and thanks to the progress of digital photography and new lighting possibilities of the Altar itself, the author was able to capture details and elements, imperceptible or impossible to be seen by the average viewer. The magnificence and the monumentality of Krakow's retabulum now have a new dimension and manner of presentation.
Andrzej Nowakowski - Polish philologist, Doctor of Humanities at Jagiellonian University, photographer; the author of numerous publications in the field of humanities, artistic and literary critique and photography albums.
