With the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy, the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria also disappeared from the maps of the world. The memory of the complex and multidimensional history of this almost mythical land has survived, despite the passage of time, and in later years also in spite of the efforts of the occupation authorities or, after World War II, the policies of the Polish People's Republic and the Soviet Union.

What image of Galicia can be found in the souvenirs of visual and material culture? Will they allow us to come closer to the answer to the question of what Galicia was for its inhabitants? The photography of the second half of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, examples of which by, among others, Dominik Zoner, Ignacy Krieger or Walery Rzewuski were discussed during the lecture.

Lecture referring to the exhibition Myth of Galicia presented at the ICC Gallery from October 10, 2014 to March 8, 2015.

The online meeting via the Zoom platform took place on Monday, May 31st, 2021 at 12.00. Participation in the lecture was free of charge.

Meeting in Polish.
