Guided tours with improvised movement, intuitive dance workshops and art and movement workshops.

On the weekend of June 14–15, we invite adults and children to unique guided tours, during which movement will be a method of discovering the works presented in the exhibition and reading their meanings. We will dance colors and geometric forms, create a movement performance and gesture to imitate the shapes of the sculptures. The workshop will be led by Agata Małodobry and Barbara Przerwa.

June 14, 2025

14.00 – Guided tour with improvised movement with Agata Małodobry

The exhibition “One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor” will be visited without being limited to visual impressions. The key to establishing a relationship with the works in the exhibition will be movement. We will describe the multitude of forms, moods and artistic conventions with our own bodies – the speech of gesture and dance rhythm. Going through the successive rooms of the exhibition, we will realize a movement performance.

The tour will be led by Agata Małodobry – curator at the National Museum in Krakow, where she is in charge of the collection of contemporary sculpture. Curator of exhibitions, author of scientific and popularizing publications on 20th and 21st century art. Her work examines the impact of sculpture in social space and the place of Polish sculpture in the context of world art. She loves geometric abstraction. In exhibiting, she is interested in the place of the viewer in the exhibition space: the interpenetration and intertwining of corporeality and the artworks on display.

June 15, 2025 – dance workshop with Barbara Przerwa

12.00 – art and movement workshops for children entitled. “Colors and textures. About what delights us in art” (age 6–12)

Intense color attracts the eye, the advantages of the surface we discover by coming closer. Join us for a meeting, during which, based on selected works from the exhibition “One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor” we will talk about colors. We will check which are the most in the works in the exhibition, which match each other or are completely different. We will also talk about texture, which can be smooth or rough. During movement games, we will dance the energy of colors and surface texture of very different works of art. During the art workshop, using colored papers, aluminum foil and crinkled tissue paper, we will create collages full of colors and textures.

17.00 – intuitive dance workshop for adults entitled. “Between the galaxy and the tiled stove there is room for delight”

Works of art arouse different feelings and provoke reflection. We propose to translate aesthetic and emotional stirring into physical stirring. Join us for a dance improvisation inspired by works of art in the exhibition “One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor”. We will dance geometric forms, long lines and short dynamic lines. We will seek respite among the various motifs painted in the paintings: a tiled stove, trees, birds. With a free gesture we will imitate the shapes of sculptures. In an intuitive dance, we will look for the steps to dance our image of the galaxy. Mirceana Cantor's video project titled. “Tracing Happiness” will inspire us to seek happiness in dance.

The workshop will be led by Barbara Przerwa – a cultural animator with a specialization in dance, educator and museum educator. Since 1995 she has been working at the National Museum in Wrocław. In her work she combines two passions: love for fine arts and dance. She conducts author series based on intuitive dance to works of art. In her conception of the workshops she draws inspiration from the new forms of dance developed in the interwar years, including expressive dance and plastic dance.

The events will be held in Polish.
