Professor Jacek Purchla's nomination as the chair of the jury of the European Heritage Awards

The Europa Nostra Award is the most important and prestigious distinction for European cultural heritage.

Prof. Jacek Purchla, president of the Society of Friends of Kraków History and Heritage and ex-director of the ICC, has been Vice-President of Europa Nostra Council since 2018.

The European Heritage Award | Europa Nostra Award was founded by the European Commission in 2002 and has since been coordinated by Europa Nostra with the support of the European Union's Creative Europe programme. The international jury, composed of independent experts from 14 European countries, will judge applications from 38 countries in March 2024.

In 2023, on the 20th anniversary of the Award constitution, one of the laureates was a conservation project for the Altarpiece by Veit Stoss in Saint Mary's Basilica in Krakow.
