Prof. Yaroslav Hrytsak laureate of the Józef Tischner Award

We are proud to announce that Prof. Yaroslav Hrytsak is the winner of the 24th edition of the Rev. Jozef Tischner Znak and Hestia Award for his book "Ukraine. Breaking out of the past", published by the International Cultural Center in Cracow, translated by Katarzyna Kotynska and Joanna Majewska-Grabowska.

During the award ceremony, which took place on November 21 at the Nowa Huta Cultural Center in Cracow, Prof. Hrycak reminded the audience that this day marks the anniversary of the start of the Maydan uprisings - events that have become the foundation of Ukraine's modern national identity. Prof. Hrytsak stressed that the Majdans symbolized the continuous struggle for freedom, dignity and democracy, and their spirit remains alive, inspiring Ukrainians also in the face of today's challenges to defend independence.

The laureate also announced that he would donate the entire amount of the award, amounting to PLN 50,000, to support the Ukrainian army, in solidarity with the efforts of the Ukrainian people.

We congratulate Prof. Yaroslav Hrytsak on this prestigious award, and are proud that the book published by the International Cultural Center contributes to a deeper understanding of Ukraine's history and contemporary challenges!
