Prof. Ewa Chojecka honoured with the Gold „Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture”

On 22 November 2024, during the ceremonial celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the Association of Art Historians at the National Museum in Poznań, Prof. Ewa Chojecka was honoured with the Gold „Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture”. This prestigious award was granted for her outstanding contribution to research into the art of Upper Silesia and the broadly understood history of architecture and art of the 19th to 21st century.

Prof. Chojecka is a researcher who was one of the first to undertake pioneering research into the culture of Upper Silesia and adjacent areas, focusing on architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries. Thanks to her initiatives, the Upper Silesian branch of the Association of Art Historians established permanent cooperation with the Department of Art History at the Silesian University in Katowice, which resulted in the organisation of cyclical seminars, sessions and scientific conferences devoted to multicultural and multinational aspects of Upper Silesian art.

Prof. Chojecka's academic output includes more than 150 scientific studies on Central European art and architecture of the 19th to 21st centuries, as well as numerous books, monographs and articles. Her publications have appeared in both Polish and European specialist journals, as well as in popular
