From February 7th to March 15th, 2020, the exhibition prepared by the ICC five years ago The Armenian Cathedral and Its Creators was presented at the National Museum of Przemyśl. The exhibition, refreshed and enriched with new elements, is the result of cooperation between the National Museum of Przemyśl, the POLONIKA Institute and the ICC.

In 2019, conservation work on polychromes at the Armenian Cathedral in Lviv was completed. The works implemented since 2008 were financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland and the National Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad POLONIKA. Their originator and coordinator is the Heritage Academy Alumni Association founded by former students of the Heritage Academy, postgraduate studies on cultural heritage management, which are run by the ICC and the Cracow University of Economics.

Completion of work was an excuse to prepare an exhibition dedicated to the history of the cathedral and three creators of its reconstruction and decoration, which was founded in the early twentieth century. They are the Krakow architect of the period of Art Nouveau and Modernism Franciszek Mączyński, Krakow painter and decorator Józef Mehoffer and the painter associated with Lviv Józef Henryk Rosen. Their work resulted in the creation of a unique work, a rebuilt temple with an oriental character, in whose interiors you can see a set of monumental mosaics of an outstanding Krakow decorator. The main element of the interior are wall paintings, which were prepared by Jan Henryk Rosen in the 1920s. Distinguished by their expression, they are among the most interesting examples of Polish monumental painting of the interwar period.

The vernissage took place on February 7th, 2020 at 5 p.m. in the main building of the National Museum of Przemyśl at pl. Berka Joselewicza 1. More information about the exhibition in Przemyśl can be found at the website of the National Museum of Przemyśl. We also encourage you to read the album prepared for the exhibition.
