Polish Presidency in the EU

2011-07-01 - 2011-12-31
Since its inception, the International Cultural Centre has been active in the fields of cultural policy and European integration. As an active member of various European networks, the ICC has been playing an important role in shaping the EU activities in the realm of culture. The ICC also represents Poland in carrying out the objectives of the Barcelona Process/Union for the Mediterranean as it proudly holds the position of the Polish Coordinator of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures. While carrying out its various international projects, the ICC has been a beneficiary of numerous EU grants – including the EPOCH and ECHOCAST projects as well as Management of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Poland and Norway, while the ICC seat was upgraded with the help of EEA Financial Mechanism/Norwegian Financial Mechanism.

From July 1 to December 31, 2011 Poland will be at the head of the Council of the European Union. This is indeed a unique opportunity to present Poland at international forum. Undoubtedly, culture remains an important element of the before-mentioned presentation.

The following activities undertaken by the ICC have been enlisted in the official EU calendar as the Presidency events:

The 1st Heritage Forum of Central Europe

Annual Meeting of the Heads of National Networks of the Anna Lindh
Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures

Exhibition: Happening Against Communism by the Orange Alternative
