We cordially invite you to participate in a unique event - the Night of Poetry, which will take place on October 11, 2024 at the MCK. The main topic of the meeting will be the work of Czesław Miłosz, and the questions we will ask will concern the role of poetry in today's world.

Does poetry retain its saving power?

We will consider whether poems written in 1945 can be read in a new way and what reflections they bring about current challenges, opportunities and threats in our part of Europe. Writers, translators, actors and cultural animators will jointly consider the transnational dimension of the poetry of the Polish-Lithuanian-Belarusian Nobel Prize winner.

The starting point of the meeting will be the volume of poems "Ocalenie" (1945).

We will read poems in four languages: Polish, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Lithuanian, which will emphasize the diversity and cultural richness of our Europe.

Invited guests:

Andrej Chadanovich – poet and translator, president of the Belarusian PEN Club, who has translated many outstanding authors.

Natalia Belczenko – poet, translator from Ukraine, member of the Ukrainian PEN Club, author of numerous poetry books.

Radosław Krzyżowski - actor associated with the National Stary Theater in Krakow, winner of the Theater Award. Stanisław Wyspiański.

Laurynas Vaičiūnas – cultural animator and literature expert of the Eastern European region.
