We invite you on May 16 at 6.00 p.m. for the opening of a new exhibition at the International Cultural Center - "Odesa. The Long 20th Century in Art”.

It will be a unique presentation of the history of art in Odesa in the 20th century, a true tribute to the richness of the cultural and artistic heritage of Ukraine.

You will be able to discover works by Ukrainian artists that talk about national identity, treating art as a tool in the current war, and about the process of building the artistic canon from the twilight of the 19th century through the revolution, the beginnings of free state, communism, freedom and Russian aggression. The exhibition presents approximately 60 works of art, including paintings, sculptures and graphics, showing the history of southern Ukraine through the prism of multiculturalism and changing socio-political contexts.

The opening is complemented by a dance performance by Fanny Malinovska, born in Kherson, former ballerina, member of the Ukrainian artistic collective GRAM group. While working as a military translator, the artist recorded the basic postures and movements that recruits repeated during training and exercises, and these are the basis of this artistic project, titled "We were all fired up with the desire to live a happy life”.

Curators of the exhibition "Odesa. The long 20th century in art” are Yuliia Berdiiarova, Zhanna Komar, Valeriia Pliekhotko.

The following artists will take part in the opening: Daria Kolcowa, Igor Gusev, Mykola Karabinowicz.

The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Odesa National Art Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Odessa and the Odesa Museum of Literature were also involved in the project.

On the day of the opening, admission is free - both to the opening and to the exhibition.
