May 16, 7 p.m. - Workshop: “Ornament eternally alive?”

Modern Romanian art is deeply connected with history, tradition and mentality, which were shaped by the landscape and geography. Many of these elements have their counterparts in Poland, especially in its southern part. During the workshop, we will look at the similarities that link our customs and language, and consider how ornamentation has evolved over the years. We will carve wood and reflect patterns on textiles.

Presenters:

Bartłomiej Pochopień – architect, designer, graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Cracow University of Technology. He co-founded the author's design studio “Studio Styczna”, which in 2017 received the “Architecture of the Year of the Silesian Voivodeship” award, and Bartłomiej Pochopień was awarded as “Young Creator of Silesian Architecture”. In 2014-2015, he was the creator responsible for creating the conceptual design of the “New Main Exhibition” at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. Involved in the mission of architectural education (Academy of Architecture).

May 16, 9 p.m. - Workshop: “Deconstruction”

The Cubists viewed the world as a collection of geometric solids. In their works, they sought to show objects from multiple perspectives simultaneously, creating a sense of movement. During the workshop, participants will pursue deconstruction by combining different materials and fragments of paintings to create compositions that convey dynamism and multiple perspectives. They will undertake experiments with form to reflect a Cubist vision of the world through the use of seemingly simple elements.

Moderator:

Olka Barczak – architect, color designer, founder of the CollageBlog blog. She is the author of many educational materials for designers and popular books: “#kolor”, “100 kolorów z lamusa – czyli jak działa kolor”. Together with her husband Peter (an interior designer), within the framework of CollageCollege, she has been teaching courses, trainings and workshops on various fields of creativity and teaching the language of colors for more than a dozen years. They love art, design, architecture and travel. They live in Krakow.

The workshops will be held in Polish
