How should we talk about Moravia today – its identity and future? What is surprising about its history and what must not be forgotten when considering the region’s development? We will discuss this on the occasion of the launch of the 59th issue of ‘Herito’ magazine, dedicated to this often-overlooked part of the Czech Republic.

8 June 2026, 18.00

Guests: dr Magdalena Łanuszka, Aleksander Kaczorowski

Host: Bartosz Sadulski

BE Zone, 1 Jagiellońska Street, National Old Theatre – Kraków

The capital, Prague, accounts for almost half of all tourist activity in the Czech Republic, leaving little for the rest of the country, even though it has plenty to offer. In the eastern region, Moravia, there are as many as seven sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites; the French have recently recognised Olomouc as one of the most interesting culinary destinations in the Czech Republic and are on the verge of admitting that Moravian wines are delicious. However, this does not significantly affect the popularity and recognition of Moravia, which is often seen as a transit point rather than a tourist destination.

Why is this happening? How can we talk about the region without reducing it solely to a tourist attraction, but also taking into account the needs and everyday lives of its residents? Is the development of tourism the only possible path forward, or are there other models for building its identity and future? We will discuss this on the occasion of the launch of the new issue of “Herito” with Dr Magdalena Łanuszka and Aleksander Kaczorowski. This time, due to renovation work at the ICC headquarters, we will be hosting the event at the Stary Theatre.

During the event, you will be able to purchase the latest issue of "Herito" magazine, which is also available
