In connection with the release of “Ukraine. Overcoming the past” we invite you to three meetings with Jarosław Hrytsak: on 16 September in Gdansk, on 17 September in Łódź, and on 18 September in Warsaw.

Jarosław Hrytsak is a historian, professor and lecturer, he is considered to be one of the most influential Ukrainians. In his book he poses questions about the chances and ways of modernising Ukraine. His history of Ukraine is based on the local history of Europe, on the country’s relations with Poland, Belarus, and Russia, but it is also global in its scope. The author refers to political and social processes in other corners of the globe: Argentina, Burkina Faso, Chile, China, Germany, United States. Although Hrytsak wrote the final pages of this book in the early months of the 2022 war, he focused as much on the political, economic, social, and linguistic developments of the last 200 years.
