We invite you to the next meeting of the cycle organized for years together with the Center for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding entitled Polish-Russian dialogue at the International Cultural Center. This time prof. Tamara M. Smirnov from the Faculty of Humanities of the St. Petersburg State University of Space Equipment will talk about the Polish diaspora in pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary St. Petersburg. Meeting in Russian with simultaneous translation into Polish.

From the mid-nineteenth century, Poles played an important role in the social, cultural, scientific, artistic, economic and political life of this multinational and multicultural metropolis. The most important constitutive features of the Polish diaspora, apart from the language, books and Roman Catholic religion, was social activity, developing especially after the 1905 revolution and during the First World War.
