Does visibleness and visibility mean the same thing? Visibility demands attention from the beholder. It is a form of protest against invisibility, silence, and oversight.

The relationship between visibility and perception is reflected in the saying: “they write about you as they see you.” And what if they do so inaccurately, against their intentions, hurtfully?

What kind of story do contemporary Roma artists tell us about themselves, and what narrative about the Roma has been written by our culture? How does the expressive, potent aesthetics of their work influence the construction of their image? How do they approach European tradition?

Images are never innocent, and they shape the forms of our memory. This ability of art to shape our imagination was discussed by Bogusław Deptuła, Dr. Emilia Kledzik, and Professor Maria Poprzęcka.
