Napoleon's Europe

A lecture organised in collaboration with the Centre for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding, part of a tradition of debates about the culture of European countries held in the Ravens House hall. Professor Sokolov will talk about how Napoleon’s campaign of 1812 is viewed in Russia, what the historical interpretation is and how it is understood by contemporary Russians. He will also share his experiences of a historical reconstructor – co-creator of 19th-century battle reenactments – his role in such undertakings, and if they are worth the effort.

A lecture is a part of a cycle Polish-Russian Dialogue in International Culture Centre.

Admission free, the lecture will be in Russian with simultaneous translation into Polish.
