Lecture by prof. Jay Winter at the ICC

The lecture was entitled Modernism and the persistence of tradition”Jay Murray Winter is a notable, American historian, a professor at Yale University. The focus of his research is World War I and its impact on the 20th century.

 

The event accompanied the exhibition “A new beginning. Modernism in the second Polish Republic” at the National Museum in Krakow which lasted until 26 March 2023. It also referred to the show After the Great War. New Europe 1918-1923” that since 2018 had been presented in many European cities.

 

An introductory speech was given by prof. Piotr Juszkiewicz, the curator of the exhibition at the National Museum. After the lecture a discussion took place. Professor spoke in English, his talk was interpreter into Polish.
