The lecture was themed on the work of artists who – before the war – created in different European countries and were part of different artistic environments. The 1st World War became their common experience.

Artists engaged in different ways in the activities connected with war. Painters, sculptors, architects and poets not only fought on the frontlines – either voluntarily or through enforced conscription. They also created propaganda material, documented the combats, designed orders, tombstones, and cemeteries. Their difficult war experiences influenced their art – even if created outside the context of war – both thematically and formally.

During the lecture the works of Guillaume Apollinaire, Max Ernst, Wojciech Kossak, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Leon Chwistek, Zofia Trzcińska-Kamińska were discussed.

Venue: “The Ravens” hall, Rynek Główny 25

The entry was free. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom platform. In order to receive the virtual invitation, we asked the participants to send a message to: warsztaty@mck.krakow.pl
