We regret to inform you about the death of one of the greatest Polish composers, world-famous authority in the field of contemporary music, winner of many prestigious awards, Honorary Citizen of the Royal City of Krakow - Krzysztof Penderecki. Maestro Penderecki was a member of the ICC Program Council for many years, he supported us in the particularly difficult first years of activity. We deeply express our sympathy for our family and loved ones.

The management and team of the International Cultural Centre

An unforgettable concert for us was celebrating the 5th anniversary of our activity, which was conducted by the author of the famous Passion according to St. Łukasz and the Polish Requiem. In 1998, at the ICC Gallery, we presented an exhibition inspired by the famous opera Black Mask. This one-act song, whose libretto was based on the art of Gerhart Hauptmann, the German literary laureate of the Nobel Prize, was the work of the composer in which he achieved a full stylistic synthesis for the first time.

The effect of the exhibition was a publication prepared by the ICC Publishing House. Black mask. Contemporary dance of death: from idea to implementation presenting the broad context of the composer's work. It contained reproductions of famous death dance performances, opera sketches and extensive photographic documentation preceded by essays by eminent researchers and specialists. We have also devoted a bibliophilic edition of the essay: On inspiration (1993) by prof. Władysław Stróżewski.

On September 20, 2018, the performance of Krzysztof Penderecki's Credo under his baton at the Church of Our Lady of the Snow in Olomouc inaugurated the exhibition, which we co-organized Years of Disarray. Art of the Avant-Garde in Central Europe 1908-1928, which is the largest exhibition undertaking dedicated to Central European avant-garde art.
