On 21 October, we invite you to an expert guided tour with Prof. Erwin Kessler, an expert on avant-garde and contemporary art from the University of Bucharest. He will introduce Brâncuși's art from his unique perspective.

21 October 2025, 18.00

Prof. Erwin Kessler will talk about the work of Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, introducing visitors to both his photographic and sculptural work. The theme of the tour will be the way Brâncuși used his photographs to search for, construct and then perpetuate a specific view of his sculptures. This was his vision of his own work, but also the way he wanted viewers to perceive it. Brâncuși wanted to create this perspective, to teach the public how to look at his art. The whole process revolved around the idea of the ideal – his sculptures strove for essence, and the artist's view of the ideal was further emphasised by his photographs. The Romanian artist mythologised the subjective experience of looking at his own art and at the ideal itself. How did he do this and how can we interpret his creative philosophy today? We will find out during a guided tour with an expert.
