Today we celebrate the International Day for Monuments and Sites

This Day is dedicated to everyone who works to protect and preserve sites and monuments. The date of 18 April was established in 1982 by the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). Preserving the cultural heritage – both material and intangible – constitutes an important aspect of the International Cultural Centre’s exhibitions, publications, and educational projects.

Yesterday the ICC Director, Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik, took part in the celebrations of the International Day for Monuments and Sites in Lesser Poland. On this occasion, the National Institute of Cultural Heritage organised an academic session. The lectures dealt with such topics as: public administration’s involvement in monuments and sites protection, different ways of preserving the academic heritage, and the intangible cultural heritage.
