Galician Nowy Sącz

It is not by coincidence that a Galician Town has been created in Nowy Sącz – an uncommon museum space (a branch of the Sądecki Ethnographic Park) that brings us back in time to a small town architecture of nineteenth-century Galicia. It was recreated truthfully according on old plans and drawings.

Several years ago BWA Sokół has realised a series of five exhibitions under the joined title Galicia. Topographies of Myth. Yet, the myth of Galicia still reveals itself in new forms, such as the Ukrainian Maidan. This is why it still remains an interesting topic for discussion. Especially when interlocutors include members of the curatorial team of the ICC Gallery’s The Myth of Galicia as well as Antoni Kroh – a renowned ethnographer and translator, and an author of stories about Podhale and highlander culture titled Sklep potrzeb kulturalnych [The Cultural Needs Shop].
