The International Cultural Centre cordially invites you to another meeting of the Central European Book Club – a space where books become a starting point for inspiring conversations, reflections on culture and history, and building a reading community. The topic of discussion will be Kristina Sabaliauskaitė's book “Peter's Empress”.

This time, at the ICC, we will talk about Kristina Sabaliauskaitė's novel “Peter's Empress” (translated by Eliza Deszczyńska, Wydawnictwo Literackie) – a book which, through its literary sensitivity, opens a discussion about power, identity, and the place of the individual in the historical context of the region.

Kristina Sabaliauskaitė's earlier tetralogy “Silva rerum” became one of the most talked-about literary phenomena of recent years in the Baltic states and Central Europe, achieving bestseller status and sparking widespread critical and reader debate. Now, the Lithuanian author is embarking on a new adventure – about the fate of a woman born into a poor Latvian family who becomes the wife of a tsar trying to civilize Russia.

The meeting will be moderated by Paulina Małochleb, literary scholar and critic.

Admission is free.

See you at the ICC among people who believe that books connect Central Europe.
