Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik, director of the ICC and prof. Jacek Purchla, the founder and director of our institution for many years, visited Bahrain at the special invitation of Sheikh Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, president of the Office of Culture and Monuments of Bahrain.

On December 3, 2019 at the Arabian Regional Center for World Heritage (ARC-WH) in Bahrain they opened the exhibition entitled Treasures of Krakow. The exhibition, which presents the history of the city, was prepared by the ICC in cooperation with the Krakow Municipality.

Because it is a complement of the Thousand Treasures of Krakow. History and art publication, it can be the key to understanding the phenomenon of popularity that Krakow enjoys today among tourists from around the world and build its image as a modern metropolis that wisely uses the potential of its extraordinary heritage.

On Wednesday, December 4 at the Bahrain National Museum, Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik gave a lecture entitled Culture and city - the case of Krakow. In her speech she presented the strengths and potential of the material and intangible heritage of Krakow, which has been on the UNESCO List since 1978. By presenting various dimensions of cultural life and sustainable protection of monuments, she tried to answer the question whether the industries related to cultural heritage can be seen as an opportunity or a burden for the development of the city, especially in the context of impact on the quality of life of residents.
