On June 7-10, the capital of Malta, hosted representatives of Europa Nostra's Board and Council, including ICC Director Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik and Prof. Jacek Purchla.

Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik, a member of Europa Nostra's Board of Directors, and Prof. Jacek Purchla, Vice President of Europa Nostra and Chairman of the Jury of the Europa Nostra European Heritage Awards/Europa Nostra Awards, attended a meeting of Europa Nostra's Board and Council held in Valletta. The meeting was combined with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Din l-Art Ħelwa's (National Trust of Malta) organization, which is a long-standing member of Europa Nostra.

One of the guests at the Europa Nostra Council meeting was Glenn Micallef, European Commissioner responsible for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport on EU’s future Culture Compass. He presented the objectives of the EU's Compass of Culture strategy document, with a special focus on cultural heritage. Participants in the meeting stressed the need to include the cultural heritage sector in most sectoral EU policies.

Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik handed the Commissioner Glenn Micallef a copy of the report: “Mapping the non-governmental heritage sector in Central and Eastern Europe”. The report was developed by the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub team in Krakow, operating at the Society of Friends of Kraków History and Heritage, as part of the large European Heritage Hub project. In addition, the Europa Nostra Board and Council meeting was an opportunity to discuss the long-term strategy for the organization and the autumn European Cultural Heritage Summit in Brussels (October 12-14).

The ICC has been an associate member of Europa Nostra almost since its inception. As early as May 1995 it hosted the Europa Nostra Congress, which was held in Central and Eastern Europe for the first time after the fall of the Iron Curtain. The ICC and Europa Nostra have jointly carried out a number of projects, including “Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe” and ILUCIDARE, a project exploring the two areas of the relationship between heritage and innovation and heritage and diplomacy.
